Subject : President's New Year message

MAY I wish all members and their families a happy, healthy and successful New Year. The year 2008 promises to be as eventful as any in the club's history. The challenge that lies ahead requires patience, goodwill, understanding, and commitment by club officials and members.
As sad as I am to see the departure of Old Stacians as a cricketing entity in its own right, I am delighted to know that their members chose to secure their future in a merged involvement with Ashford Cricket Club. The vote on this subject of merger will be taken at the annual meeting and the extraordinary general meeting that follows on Tuesday, 8th January, 2008 at the clubhouse in Ball Lane.
The second project we have undertaken is to address the subject of ground sale with the promise of building a new ground elsewhere with the proceeds. Decisions have to be taken in the next few weeks and much of the timing is largely beyond our control, as it would be for anyone attempting to sell their house and move to an alternative residence. But as much detail as possible will be given to members attending the annual meeting next Tuesday and the Trustees will be pleased to answer members' questions.
My wish for 2008 is to find a satisfactory solution to these two events, and the hope that our league teams can begin their preparations early for a successful start to the new campaign. Leagues are often won and lost in the first month of a new season.
