Subject : Will Flack Returns

Will Flack will be returning to Ashford on Saturday 14th July with his son's cricket team. Will moved out to Holland and is bringing his son's team over on a five-day tour of Kent, playing Ashford, Old Stacians, Headcorn and Godmersham Park. It will be great to catch up with him again.
So anyone who wishes to send their regards or have a beer with him can see him at the ground on the Saturday and also on the Tuesday (17th) when the young Dutch Guns take on the Mighty Ants at 6pm. Will played for the club from an early age during the 70s, 80s and early 90s before moving out to Amsterdam. It will be great to host the game and catch up with old times. "Speak to you soon Will".

Great art theft!

Don't mention Will Flack to me. He cost me £50 in compensation on one of our annual tours to Worcestershire. I made the mistake of expressing my disappointment at the poor quality of a painting hanging in my hotel room.

Flackie agreed with my sentiments when he came sniffing for a glass or two of wine chilling in the bathroom. Before I could remonstrate with my visitor, he hurled the painting through the window. The sound of shattered glass and splintered wood stays with me to this very day!

Fortunately, it sounds as if Will has matured, much like the wine he stole from my bath.

Bill,

ouch ! 50 quid 20 years ago is a heavy debt to owe . You will be pleased to know that living in Amsterdam and visiting the Rijks and Van Gogh museums has developed my eye for art and there has been no repeat of the Worcester incident.

It does remind me of a great discussion we both had while waiting to bat .For half an hour we had an animated and amusing discussion about various cricketing nightares. I seem to remember you suggesting that you had never had a 1st baller. The conversation eventualy closed when a wicket fell and you elgantly and confidently strode to the wicket in a relaxed frame of mind. The irony of your swift return with your golden duck was a memorable moment and taken with a great deal of humour on your part.Happy days !!

It sounds like the club is going strong , and I look forward to catching up after 20 years.

Cheers

~Will

Many thanks to Simon Taylor who has made this Dutch u13 tour possble ..
