Subject : President's Christmas Message

MAY I wish everyone in the club, including the colts and their parents, a very happy Christmas and New Year.

These are exciting times and several ground-breaking announcements and decisions will have to be made early in the New Year.

Full details of meetings and happenings will be mailed to you, and for those with an internet connection, may I invite you to watch this space.

You might be aware of our determination to build a database of information on every member of the club. Unlike the Government, we promise not to lose it in Iowa. But your co-operation in this venture I am undertaking with Neil Tegg early in the New Year would be much appreciated. We require only basic information, nothing too intrusive, and certainly not your bank details. More on this at a later date.

MISSING PLAYERS!

Whilst on the subject of information, you might be wondering whether we have only a dozen playing members. I an assure you we have more than one team, despite a grave shortage of pen pic profile details of our second and third teams and colts etc. My New Year wish is for a complete list of all playing members, including our wonderful colts squads, on the website's "Players" section. These details, I hope, can be supplemented by head-and-shoulders digital pix, so that ALL playing members can feel part of the club as opposed to an elite few. After all, if we are to avoid closed-shop selection, second teamers and third teamers could well be pushing for promotion next season and their full details will need to be available for our webmaster.

OUR TRACKSUIT JOGGER!

Everyone will be pleased to know that Paul Koronka has regained health and fitness. You might well spot him running past your front garden over the holiday period. If so, give the Chairman a cheery wave. He will be more than happy to shake your hand, but might have to continue running on the spot during these greetings breaks for fear of breaking his concentration and stride pattern.

Bit worried about Tinky and Pecker. Who are they? That's the problem with websites, all manner of nicknames can be used to confuse an issue. Just imagine the merger agreement, signed by Tinky and Pecker! Or a land sale, momentous in its scale and a great moment in Club history........signed by Tinky and Pecker.

My compliments to all Club officials and Captains for their dedication, enthusiasm and support for all Club activities during the year.

MIRACLE-WORKER ANDY!

A special word for Andy Laney, our webmaster, whose contribution to the success of this site has been magnificent. We began the year with a blank screen. We end it with a mountain of club information. Thank you so much Andy, and Simon Taylor and Julian Day, who have been so supportive of Andy. Unfortunately, the "History" section remains empty. Does anyone, know anyone, who knows anyone, with enough detail for us to compile a history of Ashford Cricket Club for this website. The basic framework would be a start. We could always build on the first 500 words, adding bits as they become available. But we need to make a start, and volunteers are welcome to help put some words in this vital "History" section of our website. My own view, is that this is a task for one of our Life Vice Presidents, most of them long enough in the tooth to tackle this subject and most of them retired with time available to undertake the exercise. Any volunteers?

*Please keep your eyes peeled for information on the date of the annual general meeting and the extraordinary general meeting! May all your stockings get filled with goodies.
