Don't feel I have done the Nigel Llong section of our first-class players list justice. Would anyone with more information on Nidge's contribution to the Ashford club send me details, so I can improve this biog. Many thanks.

How long have you got!!! Tell them about the time he shared a room with George Lewis on tour!
Seriously though, he played for the 2nds when we won the league double and broke into the first team the following year (1986) but really secured a regular spot in 1987 and beyond.
I left the club soon after, so missed many of his finest moments in an Ashford shirt.
I do recall one ton he got for Kent at Lords that the Telegrasph reported as 'one of the finest hundreds to have graced the hallowed turf'.

Llongy (or Lloydy as he was known) was class. Once he got in, he was probably the best looking batsmen you could wish to see and could absolutley murder attacks. He was a stunning fielder as well, although I don't think his bowling ever realised it's early potential (he'll shoot me for that!).

When things started to look bleak for him a Kent he took the brave decision to start umpiring which has now reaped huge benfits for him.
