Subject : Past Players- What Memories

I would love to have met Rammy Ramshaw. Sounds like a helluva player. Julian, you are correct, I played in 1985, the year we won the Kent League. What a side and what wonderful players. A newspaper cutting I have from June 1985, written by "scoop" Cumming, shows the Ashford first team as. Potter, Ealham M, Swain, Austen, Lovedale, Day J, Flawn, Eames D, Dales, Waterton, Steinhobel. Hope these old buggers are still around. Great times

Potts is teaching at Leicester Grammer School
Ealy is still playing first class cricket for Nottinghamshire
Lovers, Swainy and Dalesy have all played for the ACC legends and were all fine last time I saw them.
Derryl still keeps in touch with everyone at the Club and has turned out to play when required! Haven't seen or heard from Ollie in years, but i believe he is playing village cricket just up the road in Boughton (not bowling at 90mph any more though!!!)
Flawny is still playing for ACC (before he injured his back and leg!) He scored his maiden league hundered 2 seasons ago, which was a great effort.

Wasn't a bad side was it?

Considering all the other clubs in the league at that time has a minimum of one county player (or 3 or 4 in the cae of St Lawrence and Dover!) it was a great effort to win the league as we did.
