Subject : July's team report

In my last report, we were hoping to play Rainham after 3 consecutive abandonments due to the rain. Play at Rainham we did and, thanks to a stunning innings from Stuart Paine we won and got our season back on track.
After Junes washouts, July was a great month for us with 4 wins out of 4 putting us back at the top of the table.
After completing the double against Rainham, we did the same to Linden Park and Gravesend. Again, we were indebted to Stuart Paine who's match winning innings against Linden Park (in partnership with Ed Spencer) was another great knock for his side.
Gravesend was a fractious affair with a lot of chirp and banter between the two sides. Some decidedly dodgy umpiring didn't help matters but we did the job and took the 16 points.
Our aim against Old Stacians was a 20 pointer and winning the toss gave us a chance of that. Some great batting from Brazier, Fattore, Tegg and (again) Paine saw us amass 260 plus which was too much for the Stacian's boys. We still had to bowl them out though and this was done, thanks in the main to a great spell by Tinker Taylor who was well supported by Alex Watson, Criag Buckham and Liam Tegg (who finally got a chance to bowl - sorry Teggy!!).
It was pleasing to see Teggy get a fifty, and he looked in great form which bodes well for the rest of the season.
With the next 3 games being against lower sides in the league (2 of which are at home) this is going to be an important few weeks for the side which could really define our season. After the dissapointment of last year, we are gunning for promotion and with the seconds unbeaten and looking good it promises to be a fine season for us.
Complacency is our greatest enemy and we must remain focused until the job is done.
Lets hope August brings us the same points tally as July...........come on you Ants.....
