Subject : Memories and Photos From Worcester Tour 1979

Members

I seem to recall that I have a couple of old photos from the Ashford Tour to Worcester of 1979. That tour, which featured many of those that Shag, The Pro and your President refer to regularly in these pages, was absolutely fantastic. Never to be forgotten for an Aussie, 21 years young, on his first trip away from the family home.

I'd never seen anyone use champagne on their cornflakes for breakfast, which Keith Hagerty was seen to do as it was his birthday, never seen anyone wear a motor-cycle helmet during the boat races (actual boats involved, not the drinking match) as Shag did, and certainly I'd never been fined for speaking like an Australian in an English Country Garden (thanks Martyn). It was the first time I'd been known to play cricket in slow motion (perhaps, since then, not the last), which is how someone described my efforts at the match on the Friday - not sure who it was against but I think it was at that huge ground across the river from the county ground. I think I'll have to admit to being hopelessly worse for wear.

I think I'll go out and find those photos, have them scanned and send them over for posting on this marvellous website. As a historical record. I'll leave it to your President to name everyone in them.

Warm regards

Allan

If you can get any old photos scanned then that would be great - if so, please can you send them to me at and I'll do the rest.

regards

Andy

Hi Shag, I would have to admit i was one of the ones involved in burning your beloved flip flops. It was a great feeling to finally get one back on you for all the years of pranks and jokes you played on people over the years. It would of been perfect if we had a camera to take a picture of your face as the flip flops burned to ashes in the bin.At least the teams could play for their own "ashes" after that.Happy days
